ROCK ROLES: FACTS, PROPERTIES, AND LORE OF GEMSTONES (Book by Suzanne Bettonville, owner of Ephemerala)
Ephemerala's own rock gal Suzanne has written a book. It's all about rocks! Yes, rocks! Who woulda guessed? If you are a jewelry maker who would like to know the properties of the stones you use in your creations, or if you are a crystal healer who wants a good list of the healing properties of stones, or if you are a gem-related store who could use a good guide to sell to your customers, or if you are a gem dealer who needs a refresher, or if you're a college geology student whose professor is too dull to understand, or if you're simply interested in knowing more about gemstones, this book MUST be on your possession. Choose the book on its own, or go extra-fancy and choose the deluxe package that contains a collection of every single one of the 100-plus stones featured in the book. And don't forget to add an autograph for just a penny more!

LARVIKITE CHIP BEADS
Bet you never thought that industrial building materials could be used in jewelry! Larvikite is a type of granite that it used for facings on buildings, and for countertops and floors. It's a dark "peppery" color with little flashes of blue. It's like Labradorite if you took Labradorite and crushed into a million pieces and then cemented it back together. Oh yeah, you want some of this.

LARGE FRESHWATER PEARL BEADS
Really beautiful, creamy white pearls that are big enough to make a statement. These are good when you want chunky jewelry with non-delicate pearls.

AMETHYST SPHERES Back in Stock
Low grade Amethyst spheres that are actually half white quartz, but hey, the price is right!

COPPER SPHERES Back in Stock
We have a very limited number of these shiny 30mm spheres available. Really beautiful native copper. A must for every sphere collection.

LARGER LABRADORITE EGGS
We've had 2" Labradorite eggs for a while, but these are larger and chunkier, with EXCELLENT flash. Highly recommended.

WOOD AGATE EGGS
A stone only a mother could love. Dullish brownish reddish orangeish stripedish. If you collect eggs, you'll have to have one. If you don't collect eggs, they are still good for putting in nests to get the hens to lay.

NAG CHAMPA FRAGRANCE OIL
For fans of the classic Indian incense, here is that sensual scent in oil form.

PURE SANDALWOOD POWDER
Extremely rare and hard to come by, this is a powder ground from the wood of the chandin (Sandalwood) trees in India. Incredible scent. If you have never used pure powdered incense, you should try it!

CHARCOAL TABLES FOR INCENSE
Use these with our Sandalwood Powder, or use your own powdered or resin incense. A great way to experience incense without smoke.

SANDALWOOD SOAP BACK IN STOCK
Back again, here is a strongly-scented bar of soap made with pure Sandalwood oil. A great way to have a relaxing bath.

HENNA KITS BACK IN STOCK
If you have ever wanted to try the art of Mehandi (Henna) painting, this kit is for you. It contains everything you will need to decorate your hands, feet, belly, or any other area of skin. You can even use it on your hair!

ANDALUSITE CHIP BEADS
Andalusite is a color-changing stone. In massive form it's called Chiastolite (or cross stone), and shows a strong dark cross when cut. In its crystalline form, Andalusite is translucent and unusual. These chips are better in small doses, to highlight the color change properties, rather than in large numbers in one necklace.

AQUA AVENTURINE CHIP BEADS
Very small, very pretty beads. Aventurine is a naturally light or dark green stone with mica sparkles. These have been dyed (I think) a good medium aqua color. A great, strong stone for all sorts of applications.

YELLOW TOURMALINE CHIP BEADS
Beautiful yellow stones. Since Tourmaline has so many colors, you can often see little flashes of other colors in these tiny beads. The small amounts of green, blue, orange, pink, and other colors give the yellow gems a slightly "muddy" color, so this isn't a good choice if you are looking for a strong yellow. But they are still my favorite of our yellow stones!

MULTICOLOR GLASS CHIP BEADS
These are sort of like Millefiori's poor cousin. They carry the same bright, brilliant colors as Millefiori, but without the tiny designs. Still very bright and beautiful.

TEKTITE BEADS
Tektites are natural glass rocks that were formed as a result of meteor strikes against the earth. They look very much like Obsidian, but they are very irregular with rumply surfaces. An extremely cool choice for dramatic, chunky jewelry.

CHAMPAGNE QUARTZ CHIP BEADS
The lightest Citrine, these are just barely yellow. Extremely light and mysterious.

MYSTIC TOPAZ CHIP BEADS
Mystic Topaz is also called Aurora Borealis Crystal. It is a basic crystal quartz covered with colored electroplating. The result is a beautiful pearlescent hue. These are fun for bright, cheerful creations. We have a rainbow of colors to choose from, and each is wonderful.

AGATE RINGS
A cool new variety of rings made of Agate dyed a variety of colors. Many styles, sizes, and colors to choose from.

APOPHYLITE CRYSTAL TIPS
Apophylite is a sea-green mineral that forms in beautiful crystals. This is an unusual addition to any mineral or crystal collection.

CHALCOPYRITE NUGGETS
One of the prettiest rocks out there! A metallic stone with rainbow streaks across the surface. A beautiful addition to your mineral collection! People will discuss it long after seeing it.

SHIVA LINGHAM
Found in only one place on earth, along the banks of the holy Hindu river Narmada in India, Shiva Linghams are a naturally occurring crystalline quartz rock believed to have the sacred markings found on Lord Shiva's forehead. Each is smoothly oval, about an inch long, and with clean, unique earthy colors and patterns. A must for any collector of religious artifacts.

PYRITE CUBES
Pyrite naturally occurs in cubic crystals. We have a very limited number of these beautiful specimens.

LABRADORITE WINDOW EGGS
A gorgeous addition to our Window Egg collection. "River tumbled" nuggets of Labradorite which have been cut and polished flat on one side. The unique labradorescence (flashes of blue, green, and yellow) show clearly in the "window."

BAROQUE PEARL BEADS
These are technically the "Bottom of the Barrel" in Freshwater Pearls, yet they have a strange charm nonetheless. Usually pearls form with little to no area attached to the inside of the shell, so they can be removed in their nearly-round state. These were quite attached to the shell, and were sort of "scraped" off, so they are extremely irregular, and it is often possible to see the layers of nacre (mother of pearl) on one side of the bead. They may not be perfect, but they are certainly interesting.

SMALLER NUGGET PENDANTS
Tumbled stones in a smaller size. Only 50ยข each!

ARROWHEAD PENDANTS
New stones in the Fancy Arrowhead Pendants, plus a whole new listing for Plain Arrowheads.

NEW STONES IN HEART PENDANTS
A few new stones added to our current collection. Why not go check them out?

SMALL POINT PENDANTS
Just like our regular point pendants, but smaller. Duh. Only a few stones available, and just a buck each, so what are you waiting for?

SOAPSTONE BUDDHA CARVING
We don't often carry religious items, but these were so nice I had to get them. Little one-inch Buddha carvings with flat backs. Highly detailed and quite beautiful.

QUARTZ WITH CHLORITE SPHERES
Nice spheres, about 30mm. They have a greenish fuzzy look to them.

GEMSTONE SKULLS
We now have a great collection of tiny crystal skulls! Each is about an inch tall, and you can choose from over a dozen different stone types. I love these, and have been wanting to get them for ages. See them at the top of the page on our "Gemstone Carvings" page.

CHATOYANT MALACHITE MARBLES
We got a shipment of high quality 20mm Malachite marbles in recently, and I found these gems among them. Very rarely, Malachite will show chatoyance, which is the characteristic cat's eye shimmer that is found in Tiger Eye and a few other stones. This is a MUST for collectors! Each one has fabulous black and dark green stripes, with the shimmer found in the lighter stripes. I've never seen anything quite like these before; they are absolutely gorgeous. Only 13 available!

HIMALAYAN SALT CLEANSING BAR
Hold this in the running water in your shower and let the clean salty water pour over you. A great natural cleaner and deodorant.

HIMALAYAN SALT SPHERES
About 30mm wide, this can be used in the bath or shower, or as a display.

HIMALAYAN SALT EGGS
Use this in the shower as an exfoliant and general cleanser, or display it with the rest of your eggs!

CHERRY QUARTZ SPHERES
I tried to order Cherry Quartz marbles, but the vendor sent me these instead, and had no marbles available. I'm not too fond of them; they are more "cherry" than "quartz," and the cost was much higher than I am comfortable with. If you enjoy Cherry Quartz, these are really nice.

GREEN CINNABAR CHIP BEADS
This one cracks me up. It's not Cinnabar. Real Cinnabar is toxic and will kill you if you wear it. Also, Cinnabar is red, not green. But Cinnabar beads are actually made of resin, and so are these. Thus, these are Green Cinnabar. Hey, I don't name 'em! These are thin, triangular chips that look really cheap and stupid. I think these were made when someone had nothing better to do. I can't imagine their appeal at all. (That's your cue to buy some as a curiosity!)

PINK CHALK TURQUOISE CHIP BEADS
The things they do with that Chalk Turquoise! Take some pure Turquoise powder, mix it with a stabilizer, and add color. Sounds good, when they stick to the basic greens and blues of real Turquoise. Now someone has had the brilliant idea of adding a weird pink color to the powder, for a Pepto-Bismol hue that I don't think actually exists in nature. Freak-ay!

FLUORITE WITH MATRIX CHIP BEADS
This is yer basic Rainbow Fluorite, all the usual soft purples, blues, and greens, but with this weird matrix all over them. It's rough and orange. I have no idea what it is. It might be paint or cement for all I know. I like to believe it's natural, but it's extremely strange.
