We've spent a lot of time and effort with our local festival (see NEWS, below), and are currently in the process of organizing and slimming our inventory (see SALE, below), so we have not listed anything new recently.  In about two weeks we should start getting back to listing.

Stone Fun Facts
Fire Opal (Revisited)
WHY ALL THE "REVISITED" FACTS?
At this point, there are very few stones I have featured in the weekly Stone Fun Facts.  Every week it gets harder to find new stones to profile.  When we are extra-busy, as we are lately, it is good to sort of relax and re-visit some old stones we have profiled in the past.  Don't worry, there will be more new ones soon!
** Please see general information about Opals HERE.
** While "fire" in Opals usually refers to the play of color across the surface, Fire Opals generally do not show any opalescence. The "Fire" in this case refers to the color of the stone, which ranges from dark red to orange to yellow. This color is caused by iron impurities, and is unlike any other gemstone.
** Fire Opals are the only Opals that are faceted instead of made into cabochons. They can be transparent or slightly milky, and occasionally show flame-like reflections when turned. Color play is very unusual, and any flash raises the value of the stone considerably.
** Most Fire Opal is mined in Mexico, so the stone is often called Mexican Fire Opal. Bright red Fire Opals are also sometimes called Cherry Opals.
** Crystal healers use Fire Opals in the healing of blood disorders, and problems with the back and intestines.
** This stone is thought to be useful in eliminating apathy, preventing burnout in stressful situations, freeing the spirit, promoting optimism and creative power, easing depression, and releasing deep-seated fears and grief. It helps the wearer deal with the past and let go of painful memories. When a person feels deeply mistreated or outraged, feeling that circumstances are not fair, Fire Opal will help the wearer to get through the shock and indignation.
** Fire Opal was known to the Aztecs.

News & Stuff
Local Festival Last Week
On September 2nd and 3rd, Ephemerala had a booth at our local Peach Days festival, and had a ragingly successful time!  We found that the things that sell well on our website (beads, pendants) didn't sell very well in person, while things that are less-common sellers on the website went like wildfire when people were able to actually see and touch them.  The festival was a nice compliment to our website, and we look forward to doing it again next year.

Garnet Dress
A couple of weeks ago my sister and I attended a concert in Salt Lake City, and being the creative and ostentatious person that I am, I wore the singer's band's logo on the back of my dress in Garnets!  You can see the picture here:

This is just one example of the stuff you can do with Ephemerala beads!  This design (which also included swirls up front) took about 40 bags of Garnet chip beads.  Needless to say, if I never see another Garnet it will be too soon.  But I got a lot of great compliments on the dress, and was able to hand out a few business cards to boot.

Fortnightly Sale
Inventory Clearance!
While sorting through our Peach Days stuff, we found a lot of items that are sort of forgotten on the website, pushed to the back of the shelves and people's minds, and not really doing us any good right now.  We decided to make these in a sale.  All of the random items in our sale have been reduced in price, from 50 cents to several dollars.  Most of these are in very limited supply, and we don't plan to re-stock them once they are gone, so get yours NOW, while you can!  All sorts of things are represented here--beads, jewelry, trinkets of all types.
Inventory Clearance Sale is good through September 25, 2005

Penny Sale
Every two weeks, I hide a new special offer somewhere on my online site.  This listing will offer a certain product for ONE CENT, with any purchase of $10.00 or more.  The item and its location will change every two weeks, so be sure to look often.  Simply got to my online store site:
and browse until you find the hidden listing.  Add it to your cart, along with the rest of your $10.00+ order, and it will be included for just a penny.  Happy Hunting!
(Recent keen-eyed customers got a MEDICINE STONE for a penny.  What will you be able to get this week?)

Insider's Special
Color Groups Chip Packs
This is a package consisting of six (6) bags of Chip Beads in specific color groups.  There are six different color groups to choose from, and each pack is $10.00.  These are great for people who want to color-coordinate their beading but don't necessarily want to go finding the stones on their own.  (Plus, the price is greatly reduced when you buy the pack!)  There is no limit to the number of packs you can buy.  All stones will be chosen by us, though if you have a favorite or two, please let us know and we will try to accommodate.
Color Chips Packs Offer is good through September 25, 2005
