New Beads
This week we have a hodgepodge of all those assorted bits and pieces I've had waiting to list for AGES.  All different shapes and different stones, so you're sure to find something you like!

Silver Leaf Jasper Chip
Interesting stone, but I don't quite understand the whole "Silver Leaf" thing.  Lots of these beads are of a golden color.  This is what they call it, though, so who am I to argue?

Snowflake Obsidian Round
Nice black beads with white fluffies.

Abalone Fan Collar
Gorgeous!  Popular 13-piece collar in brilliant multi-color Paua Shell.

Tulsi Beads
These are odd little wooden beads made from a type of Indian basil plant.  The stem is cut into tube beads, then shaved on the side for an interesting striped look.  They look a little bit like pencils!

Curly Shell Beads
Green and tan shells.  Really cute; will lend a funky look to your jewelry!

Cinnabar Beads
Sold per bead, these are really "in" right now.  Not real Cinnabar (which is deadly!), but a red resin cast to look like it is carved.  Good for exotic Chinese-looking things.

Fluorite Heart
Lovely purple and white striped large heart beads.

Carnelian Rondell
High quality Carnelian, very deep orange.

New Power Bracelets
We love Power Bracelets!  The newest stones are Lapis, Mother of Pearl, Red Jasper, Fluorite, Rhodonite, Red Malachite and Smoky Quartz.  See them and the rest of the Power Bracelets here:

Stone Fun Facts
Chrysoprase
** Chrysoprase is the most valued of the stones in the chalcedony group.  (Chalcedony is a group of stones made from finely grained quartz microcrystals, and it includes the Jaspers, Agates, Carnelian, and Onyx, among others.)  The stone has a bright apple green color due to a high nickel content.
** The most valuable specimens come from Australia, and thus Chrysoprase is sometimes called "Australian Jade."
** Chrysoprase is a wonderfully durable stone that resists chipping and cracking, so it can be worn everyday.  The bright color can fade if exposed to heat and sunlight, but can be restored with moist heat.  (Take a bath while wearing your Chrysoprase jewelry!)
** Crystal healers use Chrysoprase for problems relating to the reproductive system.  It is also thought to help heal any type of wound.  The stone should never be placed directly on the wound, but should be held above it.  Carrying Chrysoprase in the pocket and placing it close to the bed also enables it to speed healing.  One of its more important properties is to help the person being treated to accept the healing energies of gemstones.
** Chrysoprase is a calming stone that helps the wearer work through problems without the distractions of daily life.  Thus, it is a good stone for children to wear in school.  It also helps to tap into inner courage, to gain self-confidence and create better social interaction.  Its help in clarifying problems and providing solutions make it an ideal stone for those in positions of management.
** Chrysoprase is thought to shield the bearer from negative energies, and placing a bowl of Chrysoprase by the entranceway to the home helps to keep the home a happy one.
** Chrysoprase is an alternate birthstone for May.
** In the 1800s, thieves believed that holding Chrysoprase in their mouths would render them invisible.  (I assume they soon learned otherwise.)
** Romanian folklore says that Chrysoprase enables the wearer to understand the language of lizards.  If such a skill is really necessary!

News and Stuff
Sales to be Fortnightly Starting Now
When I first opened my eBay store about two years ago, and started this newsletter almost as long ago, the plan was to use weekly sales to increase traffic.  The thinking was, if you didn't particularly like this week's sale, it would be over soon and there'd be a new one in a week, so you could always look forward to something new just around the corner.  For a long time this was a really great idea.  Until recently, Mondays were my biggest sale days, with the regulars swarming in for the new sales as soon as they were announced.
Recently, while my sales keep increasing overall, I have seen less enthusiasm for the weekly specials.  There have been several weeks where I haven't gotten a single sale related to the special.  In fact, some weeks, people will buy everything BUT whatever is on special!  Because of this, I have decided to extend each special for TWO WEEKS instead of one, to get more mileage out of each one.   I love thinking up new sales, but the effort involved with changing prices, changing the sale announcement pages on my website and eBay store, and keeping up with the latest deals has been harder as the business workload increases.
So starting today, each sale will be fortnightly (that's "every two weeks" for the less poetically-inclined!).  This includes the regular sale, the Insider's Sale, and the Penny Sale.  (Yay, you'll have an extra week to look for that!)  Last week's Opal sale will continue for one more week.  Hopefully this new system will make a little less work for me so that I can spend more time listing new items!
One last thing of note: While the sale will last two weeks, I will still get the newsletter out every week.

Fortnightly Sale
Opal Sale!
Opal is the official birthstone of October, so this week I am offering a dollar off of this wonderful gemstone.  All Opal Chip Beads are now $2.75.  I just got a huge shipment in, so buy what you like; there is no limit.
Dollar Off Opal Sale is good through October 17, 2004.

Penny Sale
Every two weeks, I hide a new special offer somewhere on my online site.  This listing will offer a certain product for ONE CENT, with any purchase of $10.00 or more.  The item and its location will change every two weeks, so be sure to look often.  Simply go to my online store site:
and browse until you find the hidden listing.  Add it to your cart, along with the rest of your $10+ order, and it will be included for just a penny.  Happy Hunting!
(Recent keen-eyed customers got a MOSS AGATE GEM CHIP BOTTLE for a penny.  What will you be able to get this week?)

Insider's Special
